Frequently Asked Questions

  1.  Why does my candle look Lumpy after I burn it?
    1. Luna Lumbre uses paraffin free natural vegetable waxes. Soy and coconut wax are known to produce odd and misshapen lumpy or bumpy textures lumpy or bumpy texture when melted. This is completely normal and expected in paraffin free waxes and does not affect the performance of your candle.
  2. Why does my candle change color?
    1. Luna Lumbre uses natural wooden wicks. These wicks when burned will impart their color into the candle wax often leaving a brown or reddish Hue. This is normal and expected and does not affect the performance of your candle.
  3. Why is my candle tunneling?
    1. Candles should be burned for a minimum of 2 hours on each burn. This will help to prevent tunneling. Slight hangouts and residue are expected on the first 2 burns.
    2. Ensure your candle is not near a draft or air vent. If it is, rotate 90 degrees and continue burning.
    3. If you have burned for more than two 2-4 hour intervals and there is no draft still experiencing tunneling, please contact support@lunalumbre.com.
  4. Why do you only ship Monday through Wednesday during the spring and summer.
    1. We take great care and pride in our products and want them to reach you in the best condition popular. During the spring and summer months, candles are at a heightened risk of temperature fluctuations which may affect the appearance of your products. To limit these conditions we only ship during business days to avoid products staying over the weekend on shipping trucks.
    2. During the hot months please take care and caution in receiving your order
      1. we suggest having your products delivered to a place you know someone will be present to avoid leaving products unattended on porches during the hotter months.
  5. Why won’t my wooden wick candle stay lit?
    1. Wooden Wicks are a natural source and can have some degree of variability. Sometimes the flame will be much smaller and appear barely lit. This is completely normal and expected. If your wooden wick is not staying lit do the following,
      1. First ensure your wick is properly trimmed. For information on candle care click here. Wooden wicks do not like to be too large when lit, they will actually burn or fizzle out if kept to high.
      2. Check your surroundings and ensure there are no drafts impacting the candle.
      3. Pouring a little bit off of the candle can also help if the candle is not staying lit as it may be clogged.

  6. Can I get a customized candle?
    1. Luna Lumbre does not currently have customized candles but are working toward customization and private label options. Please use our contact us to inquire.
  7. How do I get Luna Lumbre in my store?

  8. Do Luna Lumbre candles contain paraffin?
    1. No! Luna Lumbre is committed to bringing paraffin free products and went through various research, testing, and vetting before selecting the wax we use.
  9. Do Luna Lumbre products contain phthalates?
    1. No! Luna Lumbre vetted many fragrance houses and candle fragrance suppliers. Luna is committed to healthy non-toxic candles and all of our products are phthalate free.
  10. Are Luna Lumbre products vegan?
    1. Luna Lumbre candles, home fragrance, body butter and fragrance are vegan. 
  11. Are Luna Lumbre Products cruelty free and ethically sourced?
    1. YES! We source all of our ingredients from supplies and manufacturers that do not test on animals, use ethical and sustainable sourcing and harvesting practices.
  12. Why don’t your candles contain only essential oils?
    1. Luna Lumbre works with fragrance houses and manufacturers who create clean fragrances made from expert crafted blends of essential oils and fragrances. Pure essential oils do not perform well in candles as the heat of the candle flame can impact the the hot throw and degrade the natural oil. Our special formulations allow for the maximum hot and cold throw while leveraging essential oils and natural oil fragrances.
  13. What is a hot and cold throw?
    1. In the candle community “Hot Throw” and “Cold Throw” is thrown around a lot. Hot throw means how well the candle smells while it is burning. Cold throw is how well the candle smells while it is not lit. Luna Lumbre aims to bring you a an experience that elicits both beautiful hot and cold throws.
  14. When will my order ship?
    1. Luna Lumbre works very hard to process orders timely. During the fall and winter months we ship within 48-72 hours, during the spring and summer months we ship within the same time frame Monday through Wednesday. Orders placed Thursday through Sunday will be processed on Monday and Tuesday.
  15. Why is there a mushroom or build up on my cotton wick?
    1. This is totally normal and expected; however it should be trimmed before burning again.
  16. Are your cotton wicks lead free?
    1. YES! Luna Lumbre is committed to a healthy and safe home fragrance experience. Our wicks are lead and and zinc free.
  17. What if I don’t like the fragrance I ordered?
    1. Unfortunately if there is no defect to the product Luna Lumbre does not offer returns or exchanges on personal fragrance preferences.
  18. How do I clean my vessel after use?
    1. There a few ways to clean you vessel after use. We prefer putting the vessel onto a baking sheet facing down in an oven set to 180-200 degrees Fahrenheit until the wax melts out. Once melted out wipe out excess wax then clean with warm soapy water.
    2. Our vessels have all sorts of uses including vases, pen/pencil holders, cotton swab or cotton ball holders, votive holders, and more.
  19. Why can’t I smell my candle anymore?
    1. Our candles are formulated to provide a consistent hot and cold throw. Often times people can become nose numb to a fragrance. this is technically called “odor fatigue.” Odor fatigue results from constant exposure to a scent or aroma for extended periods of time. Using the same fragrance every day for weeks, months and years can contribute to nose numb. to prevent or counteract this, swap out scents from room to room and change them periodically. Always keep your senses guessing!
  20. How long do your candles burn?
      1. The burn time of our candles varies based on the size of the candle and the type of wick

  21. What is your shipping policy? 
    1. We offer free shipping on orders over a certain dollar amount, and we use a variety of shipping carriers to ensure timely and safe delivery of your candles. Please see our shipping policy page for more information.
